Their Story

16 years ago, Nancy Campbell took over her late husband’s business, unsure where it would lead her. After a lot of hard work and learning to trust her instincts, she has grown the business over the years, and has gotten to know her customers well. If you’re ever looking for a company specializing in household installations in the Pennsylvania area this family owned business is the place to discover.

What led you to your current profession? What made you embark in the hardware industry?

I was a teacher for 30 years, so this was really my forte.  My husband was in the hardware industry and passed away suddenly at age 49.  Our children urged me to take over the family business so that their father’s efforts would not be in vain. I did, struggled along the way, but I feel that it was the right decision.

What are some of the obstacles that you have faced throughout the years?

Lots of obstacles, votes of no confidence because I’m a woman in the hardware industry.  Discount structure and terms from major vendor were changed.  The landlord wanted to evict me, not because of non-payment, but because of no confidence.  A few vendors tried to submit bogus invoices.  The challenges of running a business were truly overwhelming.

What are some of your proudest moments?

There are many proud moments.  Learning the business and being successful while being able to maintain and grow it.  Moving to a bigger and better location was certainly a major undertaking and great achievement.  Getting to know my customers has certainly been rewarding.  Hiring a great staff that work together well is integral to this business.  Having the staff develop a web site to grow the business has been an important achievement.

Have you changed the way you run your business? What is the biggest lesson you have learned?

I have now been in the business for 16 years.  There have been many changes as I have tried to keep the values of my late husband and intertwine my personality into the business.  The biggest lesson is to trust yourself.  Listen carefully to advice from family and friends, but able make your own decisions and live with them or change as needed.

Are there any people in your life that you would say inspire you?

Many people inspire me. Business mentors and fellow business people, small business owners, my children, and volunteers in our community.

Running a business has many advantages, but trying to do everything yourself must be challenging. How has Sekure impacted your business? Is there something about our relationship that stands out to you?

With Sekure, I found a company that I could trust.  In this world, there are so many times that we are attached to automated voice services.  I found that Sekure provided individualized service and a name with a voice.  I love it that I can email or call a personal representative who helps me.  The rates that you have provided are wonderful and unbeatable by competitors.  Good Service, good rates!

The payment industry is constantly evolving. Has Sekure been able to help you along this process?

Sekure is always available to check any updates, processing, machinery that can changed to make the process secure and up to date

What advice would you give to business owners today wanting to start off on their own?

Do your homework (As I said, I was previously a teacher).  Believe in what you do.  Ask for advice, educate yourself.  Evaluate yourself and your business along the way.
